I have learned so much in this process. The most enjoyable part of this journey has been learning the design program, Figma. Manipulating text and images have held a strong interest for me and this program has helped me to do this with ease. I have also enjoyed learning about wireframes, prototyping and testing, affinity mapping, task and user flows, sketching, branding, and user-centered design.
I began this journey in January 2023 after a pivot from a 4-year career in the office-rental business. It was a scary leap from a relatively secure job with benefits into the unknown industry of web design. I cannot, yet, recommend such a leap for everyone who is unhappy with their job, but, for me, it was the right move.
Now, as an intermediate in Figma, Figjam, and Squarespace, and with a two-year journey in Designlab under my belt, I am anticipating this hard work will have positive results. Being part of a creative team that makes the user experience enjoyable will have made my career change truly worthwhile.
